Old town 35494-16

Hello,

We were recently donated this canoe to our program and our youth are restoring it. We were wondering about it's history. Could you please post the build record for this canoe.

Thank You,

Old Town 35494 is a 16 foot AA grade (fancy mahogany) HW model with Western red cedar planking. Gunwales, decks, and thwarts are mahogany. The canoe was fitted with a keel and had a floor rack and a painter ring. It was painted dark green and shipped in 1915, but I can't make out the details of "to whom and where"... just looks like chicken scratches to me... and I can even sometimes make out the hand writing of doctors. Maybe someone else has a clearer scan.

Scans of approximately 210,000 records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Additional information about the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. Please join WCHA or make a tax deductable contribution so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA, http://www.wcha.org/wcha_video.php to watch a 10 minute video about WCHA and our programs and http://www.wcha.org/join.html to join. If you are already a WCHA member, THANK YOU!

Here's information from Old Town's 1915 catalog, describing the HW model and AA grade. Nice canoe.
