Old Town 331722

I have had this canoe for app 30 years and can find no info on it. I contacted Old Town and found that it was "too new" to be in their records! Can anyone help?

The chart at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/oldtown_chart.html indicates that the Old Town canoe with serial number 331722 was built around 1989. It should also have a hull identification number (HIN) on the starboard stern that begins with XTC and contains an encoded date. The information at http://www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.htm describes how to interpret these numbers. Can you provide some pictures of the serial numbers and the HIN?

HIN is XTC0317221990. I could not get a good shot of the HIN due to poor lighting but here are shots of the serial # and canoe. Although the canoe is my pride an joy, I have unfortunately reached the age where I am going to have to part with it.

The classifieds at http://wcha.org/pp-classifieds/ are usually the fastest way to find a good new home for it. There is a similar one listed on eBay at http://www.ebay.com/itm/331835280191 in Oregon but it hasn't gotten any bids yet. Good luck with the sale,
