Asking about this canoe for the owner. It spent years in and near salt water and now decorates a used outdoor gear store.

The Old Town canoe with serial number 169380 is a 13 foot long fifty pound model with a keel. It was built between October, 1959 and March, 1960. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on May 5th, 1960 to Southold, Long Island, New York. A scan showing this build record can be found below.
This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. The wood is in pretty good shape but the tacks are so corroded, I’m not sure how it stays together.
