I believe i have an Old Town 15 , with serial # 146569 15 .
It has diamond shaped rivets, and an oval impression on the bow where the
decal was. Could someone please confirm this and post more information please. Thanks very much.

Hello Miles--

Old Town 146569 is a 15 foot CS (common sense) grade 50 pound model canoe finished September-December of 1946. It has open spruce gunwales and ash decks, thwarts, and slat seats. The slat seats were used during and after WWII until cane was again available. The canoe was fitted with a keel and painted dark green, then shipped to Birmingham, Alabama on January 4, 1947. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. The digits in a serial numbers were stamped individually by hand so the spacing was often quite irregular. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Kathy
