Old Town # 136133 17

The Old Town canoe with serial number 136133 is a 17 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, HW (heavy water) model with open spruce gunwales, ash seats, ash decks, ash thwarts, a keel, a floor rack and number ten canvas. It was built between September and December, 1942. The original exterior paint color was light blue with a white hair line stripe. It was shipped on April 30th, 1943 to the Long Island City, New York. It was returned for repairs on May 23rd, 1951 as shown on the back side of the card. The repairs included patching two holes in the canvas, new planking, sanding, varnish, and dark green paint. It was returned on June 18th, 1951. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found by following the links behind the thumbnail images attached below.

These scans and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
