I just started restoration of a vintage 16ft Yankee that I recently bought at an auction. I was a little bummed out to see that brass plates with the initials J.T.H. were screwed down where the serial numbers should be. But to my great surprise, when I removed the plates I found the original numbers. I would love to know the build history of this wonderful canoe.

Gonna have to take another look at the numbers (they are stamped on both stems) 121492 was assigned to a 20' Guide shipped to St. Francis ME in July 1938 and returned to Old Town for repairs and shipped to a new owner in Ft. Kent, ME in 1946. The build and repair notations are attached. Take a closer look at your boat and get back to us.
