The Old Town canoe with serial number 113932 is a 17 foot, CS grade, HW (Heavy Water) model with western red cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, birch decks, birch trim, a keel, a floor rack, and sponsons. It was built between April and July, 1934. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on July 27th, 1934 to Akron, Ohio. The specifications listed at
http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/specific.gif should answer most of your questions about the other woods that were used in your canoe. Keels were frequently made of ash and ribs were usually eastern white cedar. The interior would have been varnished. More information like this is available from
