Mini Assembly - Black Moshannon State Park, PA

Columbus Weekend (Oct 10-12) is the usual date for the annual Mini Assembly, a four-chapter get-together hosted by the Delaware Valley group. This year it’s being held at Black Moshannon State Park in Phillipsburgh, PA … a change from the usual Gifford Pinchot SP location, because Gifford Pinchot is closed this year. So far, I believe Mark and Ruth are attending. Fred and Lee had planned to go, but have canceled for health reasons, and are releasing their reserved cabin. If you’re thinking about attending this lovely event, you might contact Fred. The place is completely booked due to the nearby Penn State game, and it’ll be hard to get a spot.

Book Review by Mark Zalonis
Who doesn’t love a good expedition story? This one, by Stephen Kesling, is titled “Perseverance.” Read Mark’s excellent review (attached) to find out why.

Chautauqua - an autumn gem
Our Chautauqua outing, held September 10th and 11, provided members with exquisite weather, two great paddles on Cassadaga and Bear Lakes, and good fellowship at The Lawson Center in Bemus Point. If only the mosquitoes at Bear Lake Nature Preserve had been on vacation during our hike!

Attendees included Craig Johnson, Jackie Hutyera, Mark and Ruth Zalonis, Ann Mertz and Tony Stanton, and myself.

Here are some photos taken by Ann.
