Wooden Canoe Maniac
I picked up a 14 foot Northland Canoe today.
It's in a pretty rough state and will need 2 new stem tops, new inwales and outwales, many new rib tops, quite a bit of planking and all the gunnel fasteners which are steel. I'll need to go on the hunt for some pale red cedar as white is not available here.It doesn't have what I believe is a typical burnt on serial number but does appear to have a stamped on number which I can't read yet.
The owner before the bloke I bought it from apparently found it at the bottom of an open swimming pool at a house he bought. That must have loosened the fibreglass nicely because the bloke I bought from said the glass came off easily.
As part of the deal, I had to also take a 16 foot stripper, which to be honest needs throwing away.
