New project - what is it?

Curious about Wooden Canoes

New to the forum. Hi

Can you help identify this new project? It is 18 ft long 36 in wide, both seats low drop with metal spacers (aluminum) and thwarts with metal (SS) brackets, single lobe deck shape, half ribbed floor reinforcing, numbers on rib near bow 8501 and 18

Dragonflycanoe site shows a Racine Boat canoe deck this shape. Any ideas about make and circa?

Thanks, Shaun

Deck does look like Racine..
Not sure what it tells you, if anything..... But the way the inwales come together at the tip is not typical of most vintage wooden canoes.
Any ideas?

Thanks Dave.

I found some Racine pics over in another part of this forum and the inwales lap just like this one. Metal seat and thwart brackets look to me like prior rebuild items. It looks like seats may have been originally mounted by screws through ribs into seat frame rather than hung from gunnels. No sign of through rivets at gunnels as mentioned in some Racine pots.

Still wondering about vintage. Anyone have ideas about when it was built?
