Just bought a used Old Town canoe. I was told it was about 10 yrs old. Thanks for any replies. (SN XTC98834K900)

Your number appears to be a coast guard identification number. Check the section in these forums for "faqs" or "frequently asked questions" for the discussion on how to locate a serial number on an Old Town canoe (and several other brands as well). Then we can look it up for you.

XTC is the US Coast Guard MIC issued to Old Town Canoe Company. The last two digits are the year - 2000. The WCHA's scanned Old Town records only go to 1979, so to get more information about your canoe, you will need to contact Old Town Canoe Company directly.
