Curious about Wooden Canoes
hello.....i have a muskoka fine watercraft wooden canoe........i have heard this canoe is very old and rare.....does any1 know anything about these...?

Hello,
They're not very old, do you have a wood canvas or one of their fiberglass covered strippers? Perhaps if you could post a picture or the dimensions we could determine what model they copied.

From your previous post:

"The information at http://www.uscgboating.org/recalls/m...il.aspx?id=ZND indicates that you probably have a canoe that shipped to the USA in August, 1988. Someone who is more familar with Muskoka canoes than I am may be able to provide additional information."

So it's likely a very new canoe by a "newer" builder.

So do what you want to it and enjoy it.

Wasn't Ted Moore "Muskoka Fine Watercraft" back in the 60s working out of the Old Grevette Plant in Gravenhurst or am I combining a bunch of Stripper Builders into a single Geographic location. I know that he was one of 2 or 3 serious canoe builders in that area. The other was in Powassan just south of North Bay nearing Lake Nippissing.
If I could remember all of the Details.....
Ted or Joan would know more at Bearmountain Boatworks in Peterbourough.
