Mermaid Confirmation

Hello, I have a Peterborough Mermaid. It was bought by my father in about 1961 from the Hudson Bay store in Edmonton. My question is this: why does it not have the typical Peterborough logo? (the metallic plate says "Peterborough Mermaid" but the familiar round trademark is not there. Also, any information I can find on the Mermaid shows a production number of 1814, but mine has a keel stamp of C10209. The dimensions are all Mermaid: 14' by 30" with a shallow draft (yeah, she is a tippy one). I'm wondering if Peterborough just used different badging for these. Any information is appreciated.

The Peterborough Canoe Company closed in 1961, but the name lived on, first as a division of the Chestnut Canoe Company (1962+) and then as a division of Aluminum Boats and Canoes, Inc, Princeville, PQ (-1965–1969). The logo on your tag dates to this post-1961 time frame.

The serial number suggests that the canoe was actually built by the Chestnut Canoe Company.
