Hey everyone, we have had an old town canoe in storage for a rainy day project for 35 years. Just getting to it and found serial numbers. Can anyone help with info of age or where it was sold to. Hoping to get info to help its story. The serial number is 165469. It's a green canvas with caned seats and all original. Thanks Dave

Welcome, the Old Town with serial number 165469 is an 18 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, Guide model canoe with a keel. It was built between September and November, 1956. The original exterior paint color was G. S. (Guide's Special) green. It shipped on January 16th, 1957 to Cambridge, Massachusetts. A scan of this build record can be found below.

This scan was created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Additional information about the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate, join, or renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match the canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
