Looking for info on Maine Fish and Game Dept. canoe

Hello, I found a dilapidated, abandoned Old Town canoe, broken in half by a moose. I dragged the stern 1/3 (only part remaining intact), 1/2 mile uphill to salvage it. It will soon be a classy bookcase with much petina. It has MAINE FISH & GAME DEPT. branded on a couple of ribs. I'd like to see the original build record, S.N. 165428 20'. Thank you very much. Welcome, the Old Town with serial number 165428 is a 20 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, guide model with half ribs, and no keel. It was built between August and November, 1956. The original exterior paint color was G. S. (Guide's Special) green. It shipped on May, 19th, 1957 to Augusta, Maine. A scan showing this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
