Just picked up another canoe. Hoping someone could help me with the build info. It's been glassed, but peals like a green banana. Should make a nice restoration. Typical issues. Here are a few pictures.

The Old Town canoe with serial number 112424 is a 16 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, low end HW (heavy water) model with open spruce gunwales, birch decks, birch thwarts, birch seats, and a keel. It was built between February and June, 1933. The original exterior paint color was G. S. (Guide's Special) green. The name "Leslie K" was painted in gold on the right and left sides of the bow. It shipped on August 10th, 1933 to Pompton, New Jersey. A scan showing this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. The bow seat is probably a replacement since most seats were hand caned and installed on drops during this period. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Good luck with the restoration,

Benson

Interesting to see that green resin covering is just like the stuff I removed from an old wide board and batten canoe.I had a tough time of it spending hours scraping with a paint stripping gun but it came off in the end.Looks like yours is coming off a lot easier.

Benson, Thanks so much for the info. I look forward to sharing it with the gentleman I got it from. Was only about 25 miles from its original home.
