Hi everyone,
New to the forum but not to canoeing and the outdoors. I have had a Tripper for the last five years and am looking for its background/history. The serial number stamped on the back is XTC38011M81I. The last digit is hard to read but I think it is a capital letter i.
Thanks so much, ATHiker

Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town canoe with serial number 238011 and hull identification number XTC38011M81I is a 17 foot long Chipewyan Tripper model with aluminum inserts in the rails that weighed 80 pounds. It was built in April 1981. The original exterior color was green. It shipped on either July or August 12th, 1981 to Raymond, Maine. The back side of the card shows that it had good expansion. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found below.

These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/pricing-plans/join to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer this description doesn't match the canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
