Looking for canoe identification.

Otter

Gene Ott Canoeist/Builder
I have taken posession of a wood canvas canoe with the serial number 69622 on the bow inside stem. Any idea of what canoe I have?

The Old Town canoe with serial number 69622 is a 16 foot long CS grade OTCA. This canoe has spruce gunwales with birch decks, thwarts and seats. In addition it has a keel and outside stems. This canoe was built between February and March of 1922 and finished in dark red. A note also states that it was revarnished just before it was shipped on March 28, 1922 to Milwaukee, WI.

The scans of these records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA). I hope that you will join or contribute to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.html to join.

More information about the Old Town models can be found in the Old Town catalogs contained on the Old Town Canoe Company Catalog Collection CD available from http://merchandise.wcha.org/ and http://www.dragonflycanoe.com/cdrom.htm on the web.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe or guide boat. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
