linseed oil

I read somewhere that you should put boiled linseed oil inside and outside (assuming you have removed the canvas) of your wood/canvas canoe after stripping the varnish from the interior. Curious to hear what others have to say on the subject.
I just removed the canvas and outwales from my 1937 Old Town. Interesting to see that it has been recanvased at least twice, as there are a series of patches of the sheathing that are clearly different in age. None of the outside appears to ever have been treated.

To oil or not to oil....that is the question!
Application of linseed oil has been debated on this site numerous times.
Some do, some don't. Some varnish, some use deck sealer.
Do a search for linseed oil on this forum. You will find pros and cons.
