I read somewhere that you should put boiled linseed oil inside and outside (assuming you have removed the canvas) of your wood/canvas canoe after stripping the varnish from the interior. Curious to hear what others have to say on the subject.
I just removed the canvas and outwales from my 1937 Old Town. Interesting to see that it has been recanvased at least twice, as there are a series of patches of the sheathing that are clearly different in age. None of the outside appears to ever have been treated.
