These are traditional bark canoes built between 1908 & 1945 by the Lac Du Flambeau Ojibwe in northern Wisconsin's lake region. The work canoes averaged around 14-15 feet long with a 38 inch beam. Entire familys traveled in their canoes carrying on traditional life styles. These canoes were also used for harvesting wild rice (a staple in their diet even today.)
