The Kennebec canoe with serial number 22519 is a 17 foot long Kennebec model shown on pages 134 and 135 of volume four in the Kennebec ledgers. It was planked by Mansell on December 12th, 1931. The sponsons were installed by King on December 12th, 1931. The canvas covering and first filler coat were applied by Thibadeau on the same day. Giroux added the second filler coat on May 14th, 1932. Grant added the rails on the same day. The "F 22" (Function number 22 or the keel?) was completed by Thib. on May 21st, 1932. The "F24" (Function number 24 or the thwarts?) and "F28" (Function number 28 or the painting?) were completed by Giroux on May 21st, 1932.
The original color was green. It was packed by Wetzlee and shipped on May 21st, 1932 to location 32-141. This location is probably an order number but we don't currently have enough information to identify it.
The scans of these build records can be found by following the links at the attached thumbnail images below. These original Kennebec records are reproduced through the courtesy of the Maine State Museum.
The microfilms and scans of these records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA). I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
