Many years ago Tim Hewitt saw an all wood lapstrake Rushton canoe in very good condition at an antique shop that had been cut in half to make a bookcase. He tried to educate the perpetrator and the response was "This is rare, I'm going to raise the price." Tim just gave up at that point and walked away.
