Appears to me that it could be a cold-molded canoe-- a process that came about in the 1930s, as I recall from past discussions. Here is a link to a prior discussion... maybe it will help you sort out what you have, and maybe others will have information. You never know if what you have is exactly like what someone else has, and they'll jump in.

It could be strip built, with a very oxidized surface. I would not walk away from a canoe like that.
I would RUN!!

That's kinda what I was thinking. I won't be driving 200 miles to look at it. The heavy bow and metal threw me. Thought it might be an old freighter.
