History of canoe use

Interesting and yes, safety became a big concern for canoeing in the 1920s to the 1950s. Old Town created the Ojibway model as a canoe with no seats for the Boy Scouts. It also had a hand hold slot cut into the deck. This never appeared in any catalog but they sold a number of them. The first link below shows a build record for one and the second shows the unique deck. There is even a four foot Old Town display model that was built this way.
