Enthusiastic about Wooden Canoes
Any ideas what this canoe was? The thick gunwales look distinctive and unusual to me. Photo was taken at the Venetian Pool in Coral Gables FL, on display at the Coral Gables Museum. No date given, but probably 1920's.

I wonder if the reason no one is taking a poke at this is because the canoe looks like it has been "tweaked".
To my eye it looks like someone lowered the rise on both ends, replaced the decks, added some very odd bits to the inside rails, replaced the thwarts with spare bits of wood and replaced the outside rails with flat pieces of wood. These modifications seem to hide the identity of the boat.

Purely speculative of course, but the stem curve, what remains of the sheer and overall length looks like it originated in Maine, and went south. Even with, or rather due to Mikes observations, EM White, or similar is my guess.

If I squint really hard, maybe I can see a White-style stemband on the left side. Or maybe I'm imagining it now that the idea is implanted.
