Curious about Wooden Canoes
Hi all,

Long time forum reader, gathering up all the info I can before starting on my first restoration project. I am picking up this old canoe Saturday but was wondering if anyone out there could help with IDing it. I'll have a good look at it when I bring it home but thought I'd try my luck throwing it out there for you pros ;-)

Its a Peteborough, cant remember if its an Otonabee or a Champlain. The owner asked me to quote its restoration, guess he got sticker shock and decided to sell since it turned up on Kijiji. Nice boat, needs some love to the stems and gunwales.

Thanks Andre! I am definitely up to the task in bringing this canoe back to its original beauty ;-) I'll be sure to post the serial number (if it's there) and post pics of the decks.

I can't tell you how excited I am to finally do this.

I brought her home last night and this morning I checked for a serial number. There are what appears to be two sets of numbers. The first is 1433, which if I am correct, is an Otonabee, and the second set is 9527 (I think)

Here are a couple pics of the decks.
