Curious about Wooden Canoes
Hi all,
I have just acquired/rescued this canoe and am having a hard time identifying it.
I located it near Wawa Ontario where it has been for at least 20 years but don't know the provenance prior to that. It is 34 1/2 gunnel to gunnel at the widest point (there is a touch of tumblehome), 16 feet long. As you can see, it is stamped Ranger 16 but has no serial number. There is the slight shadow of an oval what may have been the manufacturers tag. Also, it looks like there had been an exterior stem band at one time (based on mounting holes).
Any help or suggestions are gratefully accepted!
