Looking at a yellow 16 foot old town canoe I think is probably from the 70’s
Seller says the number at the stern is 206156.
Can anybody help provide information about it on what it’s made of and the model name? I leave the state tomorrow morning but am interested in picking it up if I can find details.

Welcome, the Old Town canoe with serial number 206156 is a 16 foot long FG (fiberglass) model that weighed 85 pounds. It was built in February, 1975. The original exterior gelcoat color was yellow on the hull and desert white on the deck. It shipped on June 18th, 1976 to East Grenwich, Rhode Island. The back side of the card indicates that there was a stain on the stern deck end which was sanded and buffed out. The warranty card was returned from East Grenwich, Rhode Island on June 29th, 1976. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found below.

These scans and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
