The following is a list of events planed for your canoeing enjoyment during the summer of 2011.

2011 Events
May 29-30: Display your canoe at the 1st annual celebration of the Wisconsin Canoe Heritage Museum in Spooner in Northwest Wisconsin on Saturday, May 28, and paddle the Yellow River on Sunday. Display your wooden canoe or boat at the museum, 310 N. Front Street, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday. We’ll leave for the Yellow River from the Museum at 11 a.m., Sunday.
Directions: Take Hwy. 70 west out of Spooner about two miles. Turn left (south) onto Toser Lake Road. Turn right (west) on Green Valley Road. Put in at the public landing across the bridge on the west side of the river. Take out is about four miles downstream.

July 16: Paddle the final stretch of the Kickapoo River in Southwest Wisconsin. The entire route runs through the scenic Kickapoo River State Wildlife Area, Wauzeka Unit, where the river is wide and slow. Put in is Saturday at 11 a.m. at Plum Creek landing about five miles northwest of Wauzeka. Take out is at the Wauseka boat landing about eight miles downstream.
Those who want to make a weekend of it can continue to the Wisconsin River and camp overnight, or take out Saturday and put back in on Sunday, for a paddle to the Mississippi River and the Wyalusing State Park Canoe Trail. Take out at the park boat landing.
Directions: From Wauzeka, take Co. N northwest about one mile. Turn right (north) onto Plum Creek Road about three miles to a picnic area on the right adjoining the river.

August 13: Paddle and socialize at the annual canoe and duck boat gathering at Norm’s Hideaway, on Lake Koshkonong between Ft. Atkinson and Edgerton. 1 p.m. start.
Directions: From Albion, about 4 miles north of Edgerton, take Hwy 106 east about five miles. Turn right (east) on Loga Road. Turn right (south) on Carcajou Road. Turn left (east) at W8639 Kuehn Road. From Fort Atkinson, take Hwy 106 west to Carcajou Rd. Turn left (south) on Carcajou Road to Kuehn Road. For more information, Dennis Ehle, 608-873-6313.
August 20-21: Peshtigo River, Marinette County. Join us for a leisurely outing on one of the quieter stretches of the Peshtigo River between Caldron Falls Flowage and High Falls Flowage, about 17 miles northwest of Crivitz. Put in at 11 a.m., Saturday
The river and High Falls Flowage offer additional scenic canoeing and fishing for those who want to come early or stay a while longer. If you notify us in advance, we will reserve a campsite for you at the Old Veterans Lake Campground ($12 per site per day with up to six people and multiple tents per site) A state park sticker is required. The campground is near the put in and offers a quarter-mile portage to the river.
Paddlers will dine at the nearby Peshtigo Resort and Supper Club Saturday evening. An additional outing will be organized for Sunday morning for those interested.
Directions: Take Co. A at Crivitz northwest to Co. X. Turn left (west) onto County X. Turn right (north) onto Parkway Road. The Old Veteran’s Campground is about 2 1/2 miles north on the right. To get to the put in, continue another 1 1/2 miles and turn right (east) onto Eagle Road. Take the first right (south) on Eagle Road to the boat landing. Take out is about six river miles to boat landing No. 5, just south of Twin Bridges County Park.

Sept. 23-25: Fourth Annual Jag Lake Fall Color get together. Camp, paddle, fish, bike and socialize at the Jag Lake Campground and nearby Manitowish River, Boulder Junction, Vilas County.
We have the group campground reserved Friday through Sunday evening so you can arrive on Friday and leave Monday morning. We’ll paddle on Jag Lake daily with sojourns to nearby waters for those interested. There’ll be a group dinner Saturday evening. A $5 donation is asked. Camping fee is $20 for the weekend.
