jwil Enthusiastic about Wooden Canoes Jun 18, 2012 #1 I know it depends on many factors but what are the ranges an early Morris (no serial numbers) in need of stems ribs planks could be picked up for?

Benson Gray Canoe History Enthusiast Staff member Jun 18, 2012 #2 There is some good pricing information at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?57 which may help. There are several Morris canoes listed at http://wcha.org/pp-classifieds/showcat.php?cat=3 for comparison. Any old canoe that needs all new stems, ribs, and planking could be a huge restoration project. Good luck, Benson

Dan Miller Jack of No Trades Staff member Jun 19, 2012 #4 It is not a Morris. There were a lot of builders that used heart-shaped decks (see http://dragonflycanoe.com/wood-canoe-identification-guide/features-decks/). More photos will help with the identification. Dan

OP OP jwil Enthusiastic about Wooden Canoes Jun 19, 2012 #5 thanks again here is all I have could it be a chestnut?
Dan Miller Jack of No Trades Staff member Jun 19, 2012 #6 That was actually my first thought. If it is a pre-fire (1904-1921) Chestnut, the stem tip will look like that in the attached image. Dan Attachments Chestnut pre-fire stem detail.jpg 88.9 KB · Views: 252
