Delaware Valley Chapter Mini-assembly

It's that time of year again. The Delaware Valley Chapter will be holding it's 8th annual Mini-Assembly on October 13th and 14th in Atsion, New Jersey.

The activities are still being sorted out, but there should be a fair bit going on. The usual canoe building/repair/restoration stuff is on tap. A number of boats will be there in different stages of construction or repair. If you would like to come, you are welcome to help with the work or just watch and talk.

We will have our old-time camp set up with some likely dutch oven baking (always one of my favorites)!

Other possible/likely demos include seat caning, paddle carving and maybe a surprise or two!

Of course, there is plenty or water to paddle if you are so inclined. Atsion Lake is a very pretty lake, and there are a number of Pine Barren streams within 20 minutes of our site. Whe Wading, Oswego, Mullica and Batsto rivers are all right there and terrific day paddles. Put-in right at the demo area.

The event will be happening at the Atsion Lake Recreation Area in the Wharton State Forest in New Jersey in the heart of the Pine Barrens. The recreation area will be open from 10AM to 3PM each day, and we will be there.

Come for a day, or stay for the weekend. Camping is available at Atsion Lake so you can paddle from your campsite right over to the demo area across the lake. Some of us will be camping Friday and Saturday nights, and you are welcome to join us. It's always a good time. Contact the Atsion Office of Wharton State Forest (609-268-0444) about campsites.

Atsion Lake Recreation Area is located east of Hammonton on Route 206 in Atsion, NJ. Picnic tables and restrooms are available right there.
