I had decided to just replace the decks on my canoe, but wanted to ask what other folks use as a rule of thumb to decide between repairing rotted deck tips and replacing the whole thing.
How much of the tip? I had rotten tips but only 1-2 inches. That part of the deck has no structural importance so I cut the rot and glued tips on then shaped to original. The bang band actually hinds most of it.

The top 2 -3 inches are gone, and the next 3 are like old cork. I have some nice ash that I can make new decks out of. Wont be original, but restoring these will really show up, I'm afraid.
