closed gunwale mystery boat

Andre Cloutier

Firestarter. Wicked Firestarter.
All right, you all looked so be prepared to be disappointed. Gunwale cap, not closed. Anyone on the forums longer than last week no guessing. Veterans of Dan's calibre may, however, vote for either bookcases or flower garden. Plus it has one of Rob's wrenches for breaking necks. Before we are too hard on it, however, i doubt anyone is using 8" planking these days! Oh and if there was any debate left over the suitability of verolite for anything but rotting out boats, i'd like to hear it.

Proably a Bastien Brothers Huron etc. it is not really closed gunwale. I did a 1960's Vintage 20 footer and it is a splitting image complete with half ribs. The canoe had 8 to 9 inch flat sawn planking. I thought it might be a Picard, but the family bought it new from the factory and went and picked it up.

yeah i figured Picard, has a flat carry thward like Tremblays but this is pretty rough even for a Tremblay, and doesnt have multiple scarfed mahogany outwales. Picards webpage is down. No tag or sticker ever though, most Bastien i have seen have or had one. Either way, she's a stunner.
