Chestnut 9715

Not even sure it is a Chestnut, but customer asked about his with number of 36 9715. Any thoughts as to model and what year it might have been produced? I have looked through the catalogues that I have access to, but can not find similar numbering.

Ken Solway's book (unfortunately full of errors) claimed a similar serial number format was used in the early 60's. This was two digits (always ending in 6) followed by another sequence of numbers. He stated you could reverse the first two digits to get year (making this a 1963) but this system has never been universally accepted by others or confirmed by existing records. Get your customer to send pics of construction details. Would particularly help If there is an original decal (even damaged). This could help narrow down an approximate range as Chestnut changed their logo 6 times roughly between 1960 and 1974.
