Wooden Canoes are in the Blood
Gary,
It's a Rushton Indian Girl. The canvas covered Indian Girl canoes that Rushton produced were build by a contract crew headed up by Melvin Roundy who came to Canton (where the Rushton shop was located) from Bangor, Maine. Bangor is only about five miles from Veazie, Maine, where the Morris factory was located. It's possible Roundy was influenced by Morris as there are similarities like the pocketed ribs and plumb stem. After Rushton died in 1906 the Indian Girls were built, on contract, by Frank Fox and crew.
I'm working on a video about the restoration of this canoe with the help of my daughter. The plan is to have the canoe and video done for Assembly. Thanks guys for the compliments.
Jim
