Enthusiastic about Wooden Canoes
I'm having a tough time identifying this old canoe.

A friend told me that this canoe might have been made in Quebec because of its rail caps. I've looked at this canoe again and there seem to be some other unusual traits. Its gunwales are made of cedar, it is fastened with copper nails that have unusually large heads (I'd say almost double the normal size) and it's seats are carefully shaped (see attached pic). It has decks that to me look identical to a closed-gunwale Chestnut that I have.

Any ideas what this might be?
