Build Record Request

Hi, Dave! Recheck that s/n, as the build record says it's a 16 foot Otca. A 15 footer from that era would be a 50#/trapper/lightweight. Anyway... the record for OT193748 says it's a 16' Otca that was originally fiberglassed and therefore was colored "natural". It had a keel. Was shipped to Nichols Sport and Marine of Dearborn, MI on 4-9-1973... then returned for some repairs and re-sent to the same address. The scan is two-sided.

The scans of this record are attached below-- click on each to get a larger image. This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description don't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Kath,
It's 193746-15
Should be a 15' Lightweight with factory applied fiberglass, currently robins egg blue trimmed in rotten mahogany and a leaky keel.

The Old Town with serial number 193746 is a 15 foot Trapper model with a keel. It was built between March and November, 1973. The original fiberglass exterior was left clear to show the natural wood. It shipped on April 16th, 1974 to Orleans, Mass. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the thumbnail image attached below.

These scans and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
