Another Mystery Boat...

Curious about Wooden Canoes
...from one with too much time on his hands, right?

I found another one that I'd like to try and ID. The seller doesn't know anything about it, but it kind of looks like a Chestnut to me. It has the heart shaped deck that some of the earlier Chestnuts had, and it also looks like it has wider cant ribs under the deck. (thanks to Dan at Dragonfly Canoe for giving me the great research start!) The yoke and overall shape also kind of look like a Chestnut.

Or...I just really want it to be a Chestnut!

I'm waiting on some more from the seller, but these photos are all I have at the moment.

What do you think?

Dead on Dan. It is a 15.5' Huron canoe built on their First Nation's reserve in Quebec, Canada. 36" beam, 12" depth, babiche seats. Somewhat crudely built, a little heavy for the size but excellent paddlers. They were actually 6" shorter than advertised. Most were sold with either a standard keel or no keel. Have never seen one with a shoe keel as advertised. Widely sold in Canada through Simpson Sears.
