A couple of accessories

Curious about Wooden Canoes
Hi all,
When I bought my ‘83 OT Guide a few years ago, it came with a couple of accessories. I’ve tried to look them up but have had no luck. I was sort of led to believe that they were OT, but I think I was mistaken.
Wondering if anyone can tell me anything about this seat and canoe dolly. Is there any value to either? (The beer is for scale of course, not for my enjoyment).
As always, thanks for the depth of knowledge of this group. It’s unbelievable.
Ray

Well, I might be interested in the dolly, if you're not too far from the northeast corner of Illinois...

The canoe dolly is the kind that has been sold by a variety of retailers, such as LL Bean, and can be quite useful for short portages and generally for moving a canoe around. I use one quite a bit. Folding seats similar to yours have been made for numerous builders/sellers over the decades, and again, can be useful if you like having a back rest when paddling, as my wife does. Neither is rare, both can be functional and useful if they fit your style of canoeing.

A canoe seat like that was listed in the 1983 Old Town catalog and other sources as Greg mentioned. The ones from Old Town usually had a decal on the back of the seat. See http://www.wcha.org/forums/index.php?threads/2955/ for some examples of these decals. A similar seat is currently listed on eBay at https://www.ebay.com/itm/133606642781 for $198.98.

I don't recall ever seeing a dolly like that listed in an Old Town catalog but they have been popular for many years. One is currently listed on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/Seattle-Sports-061105-ATC-Cart/dp/B003CRNYTC for $327.99.

My experience is that the values of used items like this commonly start at half the price of equivalent new items or less, depending on the condition. A listing at https://www.woodencanoe.org/classified-ads-practice may help. Good luck with the sale,

Benson

Thanks everybody for your info. I’ve no intention on selling either gadget; hell, I NEED that dolly! Getting that canoe on and off and on and off of my car last week was rough. I do need to install a portage yoke and have questions I’ll post soon. I was merely wondering about the provenance of the seat and dolly and appreciate the help.
