1937 Old Town yankee

I Have a 1937 Old Town Yankee model canoe (16' and the middle thwart option) the serial number is 123135. I have the order sheet, but I would like to know the wood used for the decking, thwarts, keel and seat frames. I would appreciate any information that may be available.

I'll attach the build record here for others to see. The wood species of decks, thwarts, and seat frames isn't specified on this record. CS grade canoes are trimmed in hardwood, commonly ash and birch in this time frame. I notice many of the build records in the area of yours don't specify wood species, so it isn't yours alone! Post a picture of a deck and maybe someone will be able to say what it is.

None of the records specify the wood species used for keels, but it may be white oak... other members here, who have worked on these canoes, have better knowledge than I do regarding this.

Thank you for your response. I have one photo of my project in hopes that someone can identify the species of wood used. My research indicates that my possible options are oak, ash or birch. My uneducated guess would be ash for the thwart and seat frames and oak for the decks.

I will post a few more photos in the next couple days.

Grain pattern looks like oak to me.
