What is the history of my canoe, old town number 80700

The Old Town canoe with serial number 80700 is shown as 17 feet long, CS (common sense or standard) grade, Otca model with western red cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, and 20” birch decks. The canoe was built in 1923. The original exterior paint is shown as orange, with a black stripe with Greek ends edged with gold. It was shipped to Dover, New Jersey on March 25, 1924. A scan of this build record, and of OT design 37, which is similar to the original paint job on your canoe (substituting orange for red), can be found by following the link behind the thumbnail images attached below.
This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others.
