1911 O.T. Charles River from the Duluth Boat Club

Curious about Wooden Canoes
Here are some photos of before and after of a project that took a boat that was almost destined to be used as a garden planter to something that looks pretty good. It's storied history is associated with the Duluth Boat Club, which was a hugely popular venue for paddle sports and sailing (photo included) "back in the day". This 1911 Old Town Charles River had sat outside in a yard for many years and was a bit rough - note the lichens growing on the hull. I ended up painting it in the Old Town Color Design No. 35 (originally it was dark green). I kept part of the original bow deck, since it had "170" inscribed in it - probably the canoe number from when someone would come to check out a canoe. The worst part of the job was the paint removal on the interior - all of the nooks and crannies to clean out. Enjoy.
