Canoeist
I do have a build record for 18 58613, but the Old Town Letter head was not part of the attachment. If there is any other info for this boat, my students would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.

Generally, Old Town did not put the build records on letterhead. Your build record should indicate a 18' HW in CS grade with 20" birch decks built in 1920 and shipped to Buffalo NY.

Copy is attached in case you don't have the correct one. Is it still in the Buffalo area?

Scans of approximately 210,000 records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Additional information about the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. Please join WCHA or make a tax deductable contribution so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.html to join. If you are already a WCHA member, THANK YOU!

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

The Old Town letterhead in the early 1920s looked like the image at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/letterhd.jpg and more information about your canoe is available from the Old Town catalog CD from http://merchandise.wcha.org/product_info.php?cPath=90_91&products_id=404 or http://www.dragonflycanoe.com/cdrom.htm as shown in the attachement below. The Old Town section in the Historic Canoe Catalog Reference Guide at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/ also has some HW information. Good luck with the rest of your restoration project.
