Enthusiastic about Wooden Canoes
Please post a copy of the build card for OT #174197-17. Should come up as a two tone 17 footer.
Thanks

The Old Town canoe with serial number 174197 is a 17 foot long Otca model with narrow two and 3/4 inch planking and a keel. It was built between August and November, 1964. The original exterior paint color was pale blue and it was shipped on July 8th, 1965 to Ashland, New Hampshire. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Thanks again.
This one does have the narrow planking. The keel is missing (but the screw holes are there) the canvas is not original and in terrible shape. It has mahogany half round along the full length of the sides half way down, mahogany rails and floor rack likley all not original.
