Once in a while, a record is skipped or is mis-filed, or is difficult to read. I found a record which might be 142476, or that record may be misfiled. The sequence goes 475, reverse, reverse, unable to read, 478. By "reverse" I mean the back side of the card with information on repairs. The card that is difficult to read may be 476 or 477... the reverses are probably the back sides of 476 and 477, and the card I will post is either 476 or 477. You'll have to compare it to your canoe, including the location it was sent to. This should be fairly easy, as the record is for a square stern model canoe, and if your canoe has two pointy-ends, then this one isn't your record, but reverse number one would go with the record that maybe wasn't scanned or is misfiled.
14247[something] is a 16 foot CS (common sense or middle) grade square stern model canoe with red Western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, ash decks/thwarts/seat frames, a keel, outside stems, a floor rack and a two-tone paint job consisting of dark green with guide special green on the bottom. It was shipped to Augusta, ME on August 20, 1945 and was returned for repairs. I'll post the two backsides, one of which is for this canoe and one is for another.Image of the scan of this record is attached below-- click on it to get a larger image.
This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at
http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See
http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
