16' Old Town

Curious about Wooden Canoes
Hello,
I'm wondering if a build record exists for a 16' Old Town with the serial number 112233 16.
Any info would be great.
Also, is there a way to access serial numbers and build records directly on the web?
Thanks,

Andrew

The Old Town canoe with serial number 112233 is a 16 foot long, CS (Common Sense) grade, Yankee model with open spruce gunwales, birch decks, and a keel. It was built between January and June, 1933. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It was shipped on June 16th, 1933 to Oneonta, New York. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. There is not any direct access to the full set of build records on the web. You can buy a set from http://store.wcha.org/Old-Town-Build-Records-on-CD-ROM.html if you want one. See http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?10494&p=54642#post54642 for more details about the idea of having a "self-service" serial number area on the WCHA site. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
