Curious about Wooden Canoes
Just purchased this boat. Sees to be flat bottomed, cedar lapstrake, had a one banger inboard (gone) rudder and closed decks fore and aft. If I can figure out how to take pics and post them I will do. Curious to see what you folks make of it.

Ok, took some pics and posted them on my blog, here is the link: http://wonderdogboatworks.blogspot.com top item, lake champlain launch will take you right to the pics.
The blog also includes the story of my restoration of a Cape Dory 10 which we use as a dinghy (I know it is not wood, but it is a sweet little dink. Hope you can open the link, I would love to hear what folks think of my 50 dollar purchase.

It's a power dory. It was probably built by an east coast builder, such as Gerry Emmons in Boston (though the catalog I have doesn't show the same cockpit configuration, which may or may not mean anything).

You might try contacting Ben Fuller, curator at the Penobscot Marine Museum, for further leads as to where to conduct your research.
