14' White Canoe!

Blue Viking

Wooden Canoe Maniac
There is a canoe available but it is stated to be an extra wide 14' fiberglass(I know...same as swearing!) and is stated as "VERY HEAVY and needs to be kept in the water".....Anyone have any idea which White this was. I have 2 now that were glass over wood and they are 16 "scouts" that I am redoing with canvas!... Gonna be called "Merrimac" and "Monitor", Painted appropriately in Civil War era colors and motif...and offered for sale to any organized youth facilites................BUT............what is this one?........Anyone have a clue?........could it be glass over wood?

The Old Town Canoe Company purchased the White Canoe Company in the early 1980s and printed a White catalog in 1985 that had 14 foot long canoes in both the Stillwater and Whitestream model lines as shown below. I believe that the Stillwater models used the same forms as the current ones shown at http://www.oldtowncanoe.com/canoes/generalFamily/stillwater_14.html with the Old Town name plate. The complete 1985 White catalog and many others are available on the The Historic Wood Canoe and Boat Company Catalog Collection CD at http://woodencanoe.org/catalog/prod...d=406&osCsid=564da19afe41a4963e23a864059166aa or http://www.dragonflycanoe.com/cdrom.htm if you want more information. I suspect that the one currently advertised at http://maine.craigslist.org/boa/492848413.html is not fiberglass over wood.
