Old Town War canoes at Keuka College

One interesting discovery at the Assembly this year is that Keuka College has two Old Town war canoes as shown below. They even feature them in their student life photographs. The oldest one shipped to the Penn Yan Boat company at the end of the lake.

Evidently, it took 5 years to complete the newer one.

Or it was built for stock, waiting for an order? That way, the customer could still order deck type, color, etc... Just guessing, I certainly wasn't there on site!

These didn't sell frequently so a few years delay in construction was not unusual. They were last listed in the 1971 catalog as shown below so it would have been a special order in 1973.

I hope they make an on water appearance at Assembly next year.

Perhaps in exchange for performing some maintenance on them, they could become available to paddle? At least one seat is in need of re-caning and they both look like the rails are due for some spar.
